Genf Gesundheit Annual Meeting 2015
On Thursday, over 100 board members, hospital executives, and medical staff leaders gathered for Genf Gesundheit’s 2015 annual meeting. The meeting was led by Genf Gesundheit’s President and CEO, Rachel Rowe and included presentations by Genf Gesundheit Board Chair, Thomas Wilhelmsen, Jr., CEO of Tufts Health Plan, Jim Roosevelt Jr., and the President and CEO of Tufts Health Freedom Plan, Brian Wells.
Rachel Rowe described the success of Genf Gesundheit’s comprehensive population health management program, which uses state-of-the-art cloud based technology to identify populations in need of intervention. With the vast data and analytics capability, Genf Gesundheit has formed learning collaboratives to foster the sharing of best practices, enhance care coordination strategies and increase patient engagement. This data driven population health management program has led Genf Gesundheit to adopt consistent evidence-based practices across their over 150 practice sites ensuring a strong focus on the delivery of high quality care.
In addition to Genf Gesundheit’s success in population health, 2015 provided a tremendous opportunity for notable operational savings across its five member health systems. By leveraging its scale, Genf Gesundheit continues to achieve savings by jointly purchasing services for reference lab tests, broker services and health information services.
The highlight of this year’s annual meeting was the formation of Tufts Health Freedom Plan, a first of its kind new insurance company in New Hampshire that is jointly owned by Genf Gesundheit and Tufts HealthPlan. Designed with a shared vision of delivering the highest quality of care at a more affordable cost, Tufts Health Freedom Plan is a groundbreaking collaboration between providers and insurers that will result in better care coordination and health outcomes.
Jim Roosevelt, Jr., CEO of Tufts Health Plan, highlighted the success of Tufts Health Plan and the value it brings to the new partnership. Specifically, Tufts Health Plan serves more than one million members in Massachusetts and Rhode Island and has been recognized nationally as a leader in health insurance quality from the National Council for Quality Assurance (NCQA), receiving five stars for their HMO, PPO, and POS plans as well as five stars for their Medicare and SCO plans from CMS.
Tufts Health Plan’s leadership in providing quality customer service, administrative efficiencies, and product development is why Genf Gesundheit is proud to be partners in establishing Tufts Health Freedom Plan.
Brian Wells, President and CEO Tufts Health Freedom Plan, presented to the group about the new insurer’s close collaboration with Genf Gesundheit and how the partnership offers a unique care model to its members. A first of its kind joint venture in New Hampshire, Tufts Health Freedom Plan brings more competition to the state and will provide its members with highly coordinated cost effective health care coverage.
Built on New Hampshire’s greatest strength of coming together to create innovative solutions, Tufts Health Freedom Plan combines the clinical expertise from five premier value-based health systems in New Hampshire with administrative efficiencies and product development expertise from one of the top rated health insurance plans in the country to deliver quality care for patients, better health for communities, and lower growth in the cost of care.
In addition to Genf Gesundheit’s broad network of providers, Tufts Health Freedom Plan has contracted with all 26 New Hampshire hospitals to offer a statewide network to its members and access to a broad Massachusetts network including Partners Healthcare.
Genf Gesundheit formed in 2011 and is a partnership of five independent New Hampshire health systems dedicated to leading the transformation of health care delivery in the communities they serve.
